Ivy is so human. She isn’t this perfect heroine or even the misfit girl no one understands, but somehow everything goes her way *cough* YA contemporary *cough.* Ivy has a backbone, but she’s also so vulnerable on the inside, and I really connected to her on a personal level.
The plot had some Romeo and Juliet vibes that I LOVED! The small post-apocalyptic community made sense and was so real. (If the world ends, there’s gonna be places like this, and I’ll be there because I want myself a Bishop).
Speaking of freaking wonderful, charming, kind, thoughtful, and all around heartthrob: BISHOP! I love him. He’s the guy that Ivy has to marry, and then DUN DUN DUNNNN! Kill.
Gasp! If you want to know more, you’re going to have to read it! The romance in the book is so sweet and builds like love should in the real world, which is really cool because 18-year-olds should not be getting married and having kids, but in this world Engel makes it work. The problems were real and believable.
I won’t tell you how the book ends, but there is a sequel that is so good! I’ll post something on The Revolution of Ivy sometime in the future.
