I don’t know where Amy Tintera has been all my life with her fricken amazing female protagonists. I LOVE them. I love all her characters, but the female characters she creates I think really show the strength and power of girls without losing the vulnerability they need to seem real.
I have reviewed the first book of this series here, and another series by Tintera here.
Reasons I LOVED this book:
- Em and Cas were once again so sweet and real and I loved them so freaking much. I had my figurative pom-poms waving while I cheered them on during the book.
- There are more points of view in this book, and I thought it might get too confusing but it just added to the depth and complexity of this book.
- THE POLITICS. Royal fantasy politics are literally the only politics I care about, and Tintera knows how to make them so interesting. There are no right decisions and I love how characters are tested to do what they think is best, and sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn’t.
- There are some really good themes within the book that I think make the book that much more relatable. Themes such as family, love, friendship, prejudice, parents’ sins, revenge, greed, and so much more!
Overall I loved the sequel just as much as I loved the first one! I am so ready for the next book!
Have you read this book? What did you think?
I’m sorry I haven’t posted in a LONG time. I’m starting college and it is A LOT of work. I just started reading for pleasure again so hopefully, I’ll be able to post more soon!
