Am Reading: Bring Me Their Hearts

I’m currently reading this book, and I don’t know when I will finish it, so I thought I would a do an “am reading review” This is not a complete review. I plan on doing a full review when I get around to finishing this book, but your girl is reading two other books for class, and they are not NOT reviewing worthy, at least not for this blog.

I heard about this book from popular reviews and how it’s the “next big book” of high fantasy, and you all know me, I’m a sucker for a strong female protagonist. I also love fantasy, so I had to check it out.

So far I have not been disappointed with the book. I’m not astounded by it by any means, but it has my interest so far. It reminds me of other stories where an unrefined girl is brought into the castle and she somehow wins the prince’s heart. It’s maybe a darker, more bloodthirsty version of The Selection by Kiera Cass mixed with Ruined by Amy Tintera. That observation might change as I get further into the book, but this is just my initial thoughts as I’m on page 135 or so.

The world of this book is very intriguing and I want to know more of its history and to see it developed more as I get further into the book. It mixes both magic and technology and I can’t tell which one is evil, or if they both are.

I hope to finish this book in the next couple of weeks, but I’m in the midst of multiple tests and papers, so it’s a goal, not a promise.

Have any of you already read this book? What are your thoughts? Is it as good as the reviews say? Let me know in the comments!
