As I said about having reading Throne of Glass before; I also read this one before I stopped reading the series. It’s a rough one, isn’t it? It can’t just be me who thinks this book is heartbreaking.

Three Stars
This is a hard book for me to read because I knew what was going to happen at the end of it since I had already read it. I love Chaol. I know that I shouldn’t but he’s so likable in this book and he and Celaena seem so good together.
I also think Nehemia’s betrayal is absolutely devastating. This book isn’t bad. I don’t want anyone to think I didn’t like it. I did like it, but it was hard to watch Celaena flounder in who she is in such a harsh way. Even in the later books, she doesn’t struggle with herself to the degree she does in this one.
It’s also hard to watch people fall in love when it’s going to end so poorly. Maas does a great job of showing her characters go through more than one relationship in her books though, and it’s growing on me because it’s realistic.
I did like Dorian and how he started to move into his magic more. He’s going to be fun to watch blossom as a character. I also really like his friendship with Celaena.
I haven’t read Heir of Fire, so I’m super eager to experience the book for the first time!
