That’s right I read it in a day! Armentrout has her crown as the queen of YA paranormal romance and now she’s coming for the new adult fantasy romance crown. I think she might win it if she keeps it up with these books. Oh man friends, this BOOK.
The world was so intriguing and I want to know MORE. I learned so much but I need MORE. There are a few different species of people and it’s super interesting to learn about them, their abilities, and how they’re societies work.
Poppy is an amazing main character. Her life has been dictated by the fact that she’s the maiden. However, she’s trying to experience life and it all starts to come to a head why she runs into Hawke at a seedy establishment.
I immediately liked Hawke. He’s everything I would expect from a Armentrout male romantic interest. He’s strong, witty, sees through Poppy’s walls, and has some sort of mysterious power that we have to figure out. Hawke encourages Poppy to realize that she is more than just the maiden and deserves to live a life she wants.
This are werewolves, vampires, and more book. I don’t want to give anything away, but I think that more people would be shouting from the rooftops about this book if they knew it had vampires and werewolves. This book kind of made me think that this is Armentrout’s Twilight. It’s obviously completely original and nothing like Twilight, however there were times that I was like, “Armentrout are you making a better, darker, hotter, new adult, fantasy version of Twilight?” So just keep that in mind when you read this.
And yes I said WHEN because you definitely should read this as soon as possible because the next book comes out September 1 and that is SO soon!
I think this book is fabulous and just what I needed to get out of a slight reading slump.
